Welcome to the 44th Annual Conference of the Local Government Finance Professionals Queensland. The conference brings together finance professionals from across Queensland and interstate to hear the latest trends and insights, share expertise and network.
In the rapidly evolving landscape of local government, the dual mastery of technical skills and soft skills is not just an asset—it's a necessity. Our theme for this year, "The Finance Dance - Balancing Technical Excellence and Soft Skills", reflects the intricate interplay between these skill sets. We invite you to join us for a series of sessions and discussions aimed at not only refining your technical expertise but also enhancing your ability to communicate, collaborate and lead effectively.
The conference will be held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast from the evening of Tuesday 19th November to Friday 22nd November 2024. The conference will be preceded by a custom designed Masterclass 'How to Avoid the Year-End Blues' from midday on Tuesday 19th November.
We look forward to welcoming you to this great event!
Leading with Empathy
Empathy is a capability you can, and must, build for success. From perspective-taking to becoming consciously curious to exploring for understanding and leading with empathy and impact. In this session, Daniel will unpack the reasons it can be challenging and provides a 'how to' process of empathy in the workplace.
Feedback that Doesn't Suck - Having Conversations that Matter
Good feedback makes great cultures. When we learn how to deliver and receive feedback well, it grows teams, creates high-performance workplaces and helps us grow as humans. Despite this, feedback can be difficult. We actively avoid it, we don’t like it, because we don’t know how to do it well.
In this insightful session, you will be guided past the obstacles that get in the way of useful conversations, exposing the irrational and unfounded fears that hold people back from having conversations that matter. Learn practical tools for delivering honest, effective feedback and see why these moments should be cherished, not feared.
Georgia Murch has been in the dance of building better cultures and growing better humans for over 25 years. She’s led teams and businesses so understands, and appreciates the complexity of humans and the workplace. She's a best-selling author and is the founder of Can We Talk, a business dedicated to creating cultures where people love being at work.
