WELCOME

Welcome to the 42nd LGFP Annual Conference & Masterclass, 'There's Nothing New about the New Normal'.

Many people are still talking about the Coronavirus pandemic in terms of the ‘new normal’, when there’s actually nothing ‘new’ about it. A long time has passed since the turbulent situation we find ourselves in, can in any way be described as a recent development.

So how do we continue to remain resilient given the accelerating change across all facets of our workplaces, our communities, and our personal lives? Where do we find the motivation to stay engaged and prosper in this era of predictable unpredictability? In this conference, we will explore this evolving environment and how to thrive in the age of disruption.

The conference will be held at the Pullman Cairns International Hotel from Wednesday 23rd November to Friday 25th November 2022. As always, the conference will be preceded by a Masterclass on Tuesday 22nd November which is being hosted in conjunction with Queensland Treasury Corporation.

We look forward to welcoming you to this great event!

MASTERCLASS

Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) have come together with Ashurst to develop and deliver a bespoke masterclass for delegates - 'How to Nail Difficult Conversations'.

Difficult conversations are a fact of life most of us would prefer to avoid.  Be it at home or at work, the feeling of dread that creeps up on us when we know we have to have one is familiar to just about everyone.  This is why, knowing how to tackle them effectively is so important.  By effectively engaging in difficult conversations, we can not only improve our confidence to address issues when they arise, we can build and maintain positive relationships with the people around us.

In this masterclass you will learn what makes difficult conversations difficult, why you should resist the urge to avoid them, and how to tackle these conversations in a way that facilitates positive outcomes.  You will then have an opportunity to practice what you have learned by working through scenarios designed to reflect the sorts of issues that arise in the workplace.  In this way, you can build your confidence to tackle these conversations head on develop the skills required to achieve better results.
